Residential Moorings Campaign

GOBA should seek to encourage greater provison of affordable residential moorings. We should encourage all riparian owners to make the most of their land rights by helping guide them through the planning process, and support them to make the necessary investment in infrastructure to make the moorings possible. GOBA should seek to encourage a vibrant and lively full-time presence on the river.

The redevelopment of Riverside Park in Huntingdon, is a golden opportunity to build residential moorings. 3 or 4 could easily be fitted in without inconveniencing anyone. When the old marina near the bridge is redeveloped there should be at least as many residental moorings as there use to be.

THE MOORINGS AT DAYLOCK MARINE SHOULD BE MADE RESIDENTIAL AS WELL. THERES LOADS OF PLACES JUST UP STREAM OF NOBELS FIELD THAT COULD BE USED TOO. PETE.

I've got it just about right now, you didn't mention the # key, that does loads too. I did punctuate a bit, if inconsistently - Bit Tipsy . Your Hip-Daddy-O, Pete.

Not sure I agree with more residential moorings, you only have to look at the state of The Cam to see how a beautiful stretch of water can be ruined in a very short space of time. I'm not for one minute implying that all residential boaters live in squalor, I know a few myself & their homes are like floating palaces. However, like anywhere else in the UK, there are always going to be some who bring the neighbourhood down & I would hate to see a floating shanty town spring up in Huntingdon as it has done in Cambridge.

Even as a fan of scruffy live-aboards, I was a bit shocked at the state of some of the boats on the Cam. Huntingdon Council does have quite tough and extensive powers with regard to 'eye-sores' and general scruffiness. The boat yard by the car park found this out a couple of years ago when they were told to tidy-up some of their scruffy boats (Some of which, weren't even in the water!). I'd imagine scruffy live-aboards would get the same treatment.
