GOBA - Accountability and Openness

We want to see all meetings between GOBA and outside agencies such as the Environment Agency, carefully minuted and these minutes to be published on the GOBA website within 7 days. There should be monthly reports (fortnightly during summer), of activities by committee members including copies of communications they've sent as GOBA officers, and minutes and summaries of discussions they've had.

Hi Petronius
An interesting and timely debate.
Meetings with the EA are minuted and available on the GOBA website at http://www.goba.org.uk/main.php?section=Members|Media_Library|GOBA_-_EA_Liaison (albeit not within 7 days). Minutes of other meetings, and there are many, are also available. You are free to see them (occasionally some are time embargoed by the relevant government agency but this is rare)
GOBA is always looking for fresh blood and views. There are currently 2 vacancies on the committee and have been for some time. These have been advertised (and will be again in the imminent Summer GOBA News) but with no takers so far.
Give me a call if you are interested
Best Regards

Thanks for dropping by Mike, my wife says "You're not joining no bloody committees, you spend enough bloody time on that bloody boat and you can get off that computer and finish that tiling in the bathroom and then..."

I'm in the bathroom with work's laptop and mobile interweb dongle thingy (hehe!)... I'll ask Harry our resident intellectual and terrorizer of Oficialdom to get in touch. He doesn't like non-members using GOBA moorings ("It's only £15 a year, for f---'s sake"), goes red when you talk about red diesel ("They are totally taking the p---"), thinks everyone in the whole country should have a boat. And was first rescued by the coastguard when he was 11. I think he's just what you're looking for.

Oh, and gets very upset about bad spelling, Sorry H, I should've written "Officialdon". And about the state of the NHS, and thieves not getting their hands chopped off. Thinks Police Community Support officers are a lower form of life than even social workers. He just wrote a letter of complaint to a doctor who's picture was in the Daily Telegraph, because he was wearing jeans and no tie (Shock Horror!). Yes, he's just what you're looking for.
